IPG EDU MATTERS
And Travel
“Grab the opportunities given. Embrace change; leave your comfort zone and trust the process. Traumatic. or not-so-good- experiences often create a firm foundation for valuable and amazing, experiences in the future. Flexibility and adaptability are valuable attributes.”

About Ilse
Hi, I am Ilse Goschus. Welcome to my blog. My blog aims to share some educational and travel experiences and tips as my teaching and travelling experiences became intertwined in later years.
I’m a teacher, trainer, author, poet and a qualified journalist. (I write in English and Afrikaans.)
I was lucky; I embraced the multiple opportunities offered and that became the paintbrush, painting a colourful and interesting life.
My life journey has been challenging, risky, adventurous and… miraculous. I chose perhaps a road less travelled, which matches my free-spirited attitude to life. I do believe in luck. The saying, ‘Luck comes to those believing in it,” rings very true to me.
People often label me as the ‘airy fairy’ type, but I can assure you that somewhere amongst the fairy dust, elves and glittery green fire-flies, hides a good dose of logic.
My life experiences, educational journey and travel experiences have enriched my life. I’d seen a lot; I experienced a lot and that added to viewing the world with a wise owl perspective.

More About Ilse
I love art, music, travelling, teaching and training, writing (articles, adult and children’s stories and poetry) and enjoy compiling educational resource materials. I also have a keen interest in mineralogy and unique rock formations, gardening and being surrounded by nature.
The sea is my secret and very reliable therapist. It touches my soul in mysterious ways and boosts my creativity.
Another natural element that intrigued me since a very young age, was clouds. I wished I’d been a cloud. These cotton-wool-like phenomena entertained me for hours. I admired their ability to change colour and shape and being able to travel from one country to another. They managed to change course out of free will whenever deemed necessary; a quality yearned for since young.
My innate need towards embracing change and the ability to travel and not be stuck in one place; guided me onto my eventual travelling path I believe.

My cloud-like experiences: travelling the world
I have travelled to 28 countries up to date.
My teaching and travelling experiences started operating in tandem and turned into wonderful experiences and life lessons which I would like to share.
I taught in Thailand, India and the Bahamas and I’d been a school principal at an independent school in Ethiopia.
Ironically enough, my teaching-travelling journey involved either political or natural disaster challenges, but luckily all worked out. Such challenges teach one about oneself when alone in a foreign country and normally equip one with the necessary survival skills.
